Current work
My PhD work is an ANT inspired ethnography of how social workers take the needs of vulnerable children and the costs of interventions into account in their decisions about how to best help the children. By following the costs as an actor, I could see that ’economy’ was enacted in multiple ways. In particular, I observed an ’economy without numbers’, where account-giving entailed emotional work, timing, and professional expertise.
In my post doc research, I investigated how the ethical landscapes of AI in Danish Public Administration transformed with the advancements of machine learning algorithms and LLM’s. The research unfolds the socio-material processes of AI ethics in the Danish Welfare State, and it contributes to STS with novel insights into emerging algorithm-worlds.
My plan is to combine the two lines of inquery in my future research.
Based on my research, I have worked to empower the social professions by disseminating my research in Danish books, publications, and talks, arguing that social work expertise provide far better metrics for economic valuations than math-based economy. This is a feminist approach, striving to bring the importance (the value) of the messy and often hidden everyday practices of social work to the foreground of policy, management and research.
